Happy springtime, people.
If I have one rule, it's usually that I don't paint flowers. To me, it's because they don't have enough kinetic energy- the thing that I love painting the most. Last Friday, however, I broke that rule, with really interesting results. I had help with it, too.
Working together, Elpea Art, Intuitive Expressions, E. Malaika Collier and UArts dance trainees did a exhibit at the African American Museum of Philadelphia (AAMP)'s upscale charity gala last Friday the 28th. The preparation process was pretty intense from start to finish.
From start to finish, it took us less than 2 days to pull the project together, from conception to final result. Attachments 1-2 are work-in-progress shots, and attachment 3 is the final stage- a picture from March 31st issue of The Daily News!
People loved it. More than 300 guests were in attendance, and many of them stopped by to take pictures of the dancers George and Dominique (as well of themselves against the backdrop!). We are still developing official shots from the event, which will be posted on Facebook and Instagram later in April.
To be frank, working with other artists have given me some of my more rewarding, as well as most instructive, experiences. With this new collaboration, I was able to explore a bit more on what collaboration between different mediums and people can produce- beautiful, theatrical works of art.
Be creative and share ideas!
Best,
Lyric
